Sat, 19 Apr 2008 05:05:25 PDT
NYCC Day 1 04/19/08 8:05 AM (Above photo taken during the trade only part of theshow…it got WAY more crowed very soon.) Well, we’re just about all paneled out after today. Our day started at 11 am with the “mid sized publishers” panel. Brave Eric Lieb (our boss at Fox Atomic) and heroic James Lucas Jones from ONi made it to the panel, and since both are loquacious gents, they just took the ball and ran with it. The conversation perhaps veered too far into the comics-to-Hollywood connection

Manik x S.King Skateboard Decks
Sat, 19 Apr 2008 09:55:47 PDT

The boards were painted using watercolors, and the wood grain was exposed creating a raw yet ephemeral feel. Urban decay has never looked sweeter. Info.Image: Manik

"Pretty soon we'll have to fly naked!" The mass media rapidly embraced the UK terror storyline fed to them. The BBC, CNN, CBC Newsworld and other all-news broadcasters covered scarcely anything but the narrowly averted catastrophe throughout the day. Funny thing, but the general public wasn't buying it. The reaction was surprisingly cynical...

ON THE GLOBAL FOOD CRISIS
Sat, 19 Apr 2008 08:57:38 PDT
FOOD FOR THOUGHT The Economist has a timely cover story on the current global food price inflation and resulting unrest. Here's how they describe the harsh human reality: "...by almost any measure, the human suffering is likely to be vast. In El Salvador the poor are eating only half as much food as they were a year ago. Afghans are now spending half their income on food, up from a tenth in 2006. On a conservative estimate, food-price rises may reduce the spending power of the urban poor

Oddly, that fact wasn't included in the info packet. In other news, my ARM rate dropped from 5.5% to 4.375%, which is cool. I'd financed purchasing of The Fortress by cashing out some equity in the house and banking on increased earning potential combined with a relatively small prin
